One of the SDG Actioner teams, the Green Guardians from HKTA The Yuen Yuen Institute No. 3 Secondary School, has launched a pilot project introducing smart flowerpots, with the goal of improving plant care, extending plant lifespans, reducing manual labour, and fostering healthy plant growth. These innovative flowerpots leverage advanced technologies like Micro-Bit and solar panels to tackle challenges such as inconsistent watering, inadequate soil management, and fluctuations in weather conditions.
One of the SDG Actioner teams, the EcoAvengers from Caritas St. Joseph Secondary School, integrates renewable energy, recycling, upcycling, and youth empowerment in a practical and scalable approach. By fully leveraging resources and encouraging community participation, the group promotes the real-world application of STEM knowledge. With a special emphasis on integrating fashion design aesthetics with recycled materials, the initiative strives to merge solar technology with artistic creativity. Through this fusion of disciplines, it aims to deepen students’ understanding of how creative fashion skills can be combined with solar applications. The project seeks not only to raise awareness among students and teachers within the school but also to extend its influence to the wider community.
