The goal of a child-friendly city is to ensure the happiness and well-being of every child. In this episode, we invited Ms. Judy Chen, Chairman of UNICEF HK, Sisi and Carlos, the representatives of UNICEF Young Envoys Programme 2024 to discuss with junior radio hosts about development of Child Friendly Cities.

12th October 2024 - Episode 2: Walking with Children in their minds

Where does negativity come from? Are you happy to go to school? Do you have difficulties getting along with your classmates? The construction of health, educational, and social service infrastructure for children and their communities is an important aspect of a child-friendly city.

In this episode, we invited Principal. Fong Chung Lun, Chairman of the Hong Kong Island School Heads Association; and Jeff, the UNICEF Young Envoys 2023, to discuss children's concerns and listen to children’s voices.

2nd November 2024 - Episode 5: Let's Play and Have Fun Together!

A child-friendly city is an urban environment where children can grow and thrive. Picture this: safe and green spaces all around, perfectly blended into the cityscape. These spaces are not just any old spots, they're awesome public hangouts where kids can have a blast. And you know what's even more exciting? The chance for kids to interact with their community while enjoying outdoor activities.

In this episode, Miss CHUI Hiu Lo, Winnie, JP (Deputy Director of Leisure & Cultural Services (Leisure Services)) joined junior hosts in discussing children's community and space in order to provide a better entertainment and growing environment for children.

9th November 2024 - Episode 6: Encouraging Youths to Embrace New Challenges

For young people, embracing challenges and making new attempts are key drivers for making progress. Whether it's volunteering, organizing public education roadshows at shopping malls, or even running a coffee shop, these are excellent learning experiences. Institutions and schools are making various attempts to provide opportunities for young people.

We invited Venus (Edvocate School Speaker) and Haven (UNICEF HK Interns), to discuss with junior radio hosts on the topic of teenagers' participation in social activities and provide recommendations.

16th November 2024 - Episode 7: Raising the Babies by Breastfeeding

Breastfeeding is beneficial for newborn babies, mothers, and society as a whole. With longer breastfeeding period, it would bring greater the health benefits for both mother and baby. Every mother desires to provide the very best for her baby and breastfeeding plays a vital role in fostering their growth. Creating an understanding and supportive environment within the community which understands and supports breastfeeding is crucial to encourage breastfeeding. Together, we can create a better future for children.

We invited Dr. Wong Ming Sum Rosanna, Chairperson of BFHIHKA, and also Ms. Christine Lam, Vice Chairperson of BFHIHKA to discuss the benefits of breastfeeding for children and provide suggestions for further promoting breastfeeding.

Children’s healthy growth is closely tied to education and families’ support. Parents shall be constantly learning, persistent in good faith, and being open to change. The everyday interactions between parents and children can have a profound impact on their growth if they are guided with positivity.

In this episode, we invited Professor Chung, Kien Hoa Kevin, Director of the Centre for Child and Family Science at the Education University of Hong Kong to discuss with junior hosts the importance of parental involvement in children's development.

Hong Kong is a multicultural society. To achieve a harmonious community, we must start with education, learning about and understanding different backgrounds, religions, and respecting diverse cultures. In this episode, we invited chairperson of 3 UNICEF Clubs to introduce inclusion activities within campus, and to share the importance of learning to appreciate, warmly accept, participate equally, and coexist peacefully.

It is important to equip children with knowledge about their communities and to appreciate their living environment. Imagine if children have the chance to design their own homes. Let's dive into their imaginative world and discover the magic they hold for their ideal living spaces.

We invited Ms. Jessie Yu Sau-chu from the Hong Kong Single Parent Association (HKSPA) to discuss with the children radio hosts.
